As a people, they would pray for the rain. Not due to any inherent lack of it, but rather, just because it is what they had always done. It came to be such that so much as a darkening of the sky to the West would cause their men to drop their tools and their women to step outside in joyous anticipation and hoping for the gift. And then they’d wait until it came, watching it all along and prostrating themselves as the water came down.

If it so happened that the storm passed them or skirted nearby without dropping any rain, they would fall into despair. So as it went, for every storm that came along~ those in it celebrated while an innumerable number more that were on the outside would be struck with grief. :D
